Studio Russo synthesizes training in sculpture and landscape architecture to create individually handcrafted stone furnishings for home, office, restaurant or lounge. Integrated, is 35 years of hand selecting and carving stone, with designing, building dramatically lit gardens, combining plants, and fountains. Jon-Joseph Russo imbues these elegant furnishings with intriguing uses of light, plants, or water, establishing Zen-like harmony of simple elements. The innovative use of these elements draws upon the ageless culture of Oriental and Mediterranean aesthetic of architectural form. The courtyard house model was, and today, has a rectangular central roof opening to the sky. The key elements of life were derived from the opening: the effect of dramatically entering sunlight and soothing moonlight, and the collection of rainwater into a cistern, supports the beauty and sustenance of a cultivated internal garden.
