Jon-Joseph Russo uses these main design concepts. Plantings are selected for multi-seasonal interest and size appropriate for spaces for reduced maintenance. The house architectural style is unified in the materials, rhythms of hardscape spaces, and through sequential circulation, encouraging extension of indoor rooms. Also these plantings and structures are used to frame views, as a photographer does. This creates a new perspective of greater depth from the house and out beyond the garden.

Studio Russo specializes in small-scale gardens: all masonry, brick, flagstone, patios, natural stone, retaining walls, installing sculpture, architectural detail restoration, water features, wall fountains, drainage, waterproofing, decks, fences, trellises. Within interior renovations specialties include stone fireplaces, hearths, ceramic and marble tile for kitchen and bathroom remodeling.

Studio Russo provides many means to communicate ideas such as colored renderings, models, and a process description. "Let's meet for a design consultation to generate new ideas and solutions". As Landscape Architect, there is an hourly fee per consultation which would be applied, as credit, towards future design work.
